Grinnell Newburg Educational Excellence (GNEE) board President and Grinnell Mutual Assistant Vice President of Underwriting and Marketing Shawn McKay and GNEE board member Sarah Smith look on as a kindergarten student demonstrates the Smart Board at work in Lisa Coffman’s kindergarten class. Coffman uses the tool, funded by a GNEE grant, for many classroom tasks including this one, in which arriving kindergarteners record the kind of lunch they will eat later in the day. The students touch the Smart Board and move their name to the correct column-bolstering basic math skills along the way.
